Carolyn O’Dell, Director of Life Enrichment

I am the Director of Life Enrichment here at Summer Hill Assisted Living. My career working with the elderly and disabled began 18 years ago, when I became interested in the nursing field. My experiences include working as a Certified Nurses Aide in a Skilled Nursing facility, Home Health Agencies as a Home Health Aide, and then a Personal Care Aide. For the past three years, I have specialized my career working as a Social Service Director and Activity Director in a skilled Nursing Home setting, as well as an Adult Day Service and Respite Program.

Originally, I am from Illinois where I met my husband, Robert. We have spent most of his military career being stationed here on NAS Whidbey Island. After his 20 years of Naval Service, we decided to call Whidbey Island Home. We have one son and a beautiful granddaughter.

I bring with me to Summer Hill many years of expertise and passion, which will richly enhance the lives with our residents by encouraging them to continue to live to their fullest potential, both psychosocially and physically at any age. I am privileged to become part of the Summer Hill family and look forward to working with all current and future residents and staff alike.
